IT Services Firm Increases Number of Memphis Employees by 92 Percent Under Leadership of Memphis Native, President & CEO Steven Howard Smith

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Zycron today announced a 92 percent net increase in its number of Memphis employees in 2009, in the midst of a historical economic downturn. From January to December 2009, the information technology services firms’ overall staff grew by a net 38 percent.

Zycron’s Memphis operations make up the organization’s second largest office with 50 employees. Steven Howard Smith, Memphis native and current resident, was named Zycron CEO in January 2009, and has led the company in a year of record revenue and a significant growth in staff. Smith joined Zycron in 2007 as executive vice president with more than 21 years of leadership experience in IT consulting.

“Zycron strives to add value to the communities which we serve, both to our clients and through job creation,” Smith said. “Our recent success is a testament to the great work by our team in Memphis and the diversified client base we’ve acquired over the years.” Since 2003, Zycron has had a strong local presence and solid client relationships in Memphis. The company’s longevity can be attributed to an extensive portfolio of work that includes partnerships with the nation’s largest health care, shipping, energy, and governmental agencies. A few key clients for Zycron in Memphis are FedEx, Memphis Light Gas and Water, the State of Tennessee and the City of Memphis.

Zycron’s Project Management Office (PMO) is located in Memphis and currently manages more than $16 million of information technology projects for the City of Memphis. Zycron supports the City’s IT initiatives by providing the PMO that governs and executes the City’s IT projects and programs. Zycron PMO Director Larry Wilson has received regional and national recognition for his work at the City, including: being honored by Innotas, a global authority on project management, being a finalist for the Nashville Technology Council’s Innovator of the Year Award, and having this project nominated for Info World’s 2009 Top 100 projects of the Year.

“It has been my vision since the inception of Zycron to create a competitive organization that provides the best possible services for our clients,” said Darrell Freeman, Zycron founder and chairman. “Because we’ve assembled the best team of professionals, our organization has been resilient and provided value to our customers even during a perilous economic environment.” Zycron is a full-service IT consulting firm and has operations in four U.S. cities and a joint venture in Latin America.
